DIY Organic Kitchen Cleaners

Our favorite things to share with you are DIY household product recipes we find –they’re eco-friendly, and help maintain the high quality of furniture like ours! Here are 5 more household solutions that we hope will help you out on cleaning day…

Scouring Powder

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of baking soda
  • ¼ cup of washing soda

Directions: Use this like you would use any commercial scouring powders!

All-purpose Spray Cleaner

Ingredients:

  • ½ tsp of washing soda
  • ½ tsp of Borax
  • ½ tsp of vegetable oil-based soap
  • 2 Tbs of vinegar
  • 2 cups of hot water

Directions: Mix ingredients together in a spray bottle (for extra cleaning power increase Borax). Spray and wipe clean.

Mold Killer

Ingredients:

  • Vinegar

Directions: Use full-strength vinegar to kill mold, or keep it under control by spraying it with diluted vinegar regularly.

Rid Musty Smell

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp of tea tree oil
  • 1 cup of water

Directions: Combine ingredients in a spritzer bottle and spray the area (don’t wipe off). In a couple of days the smell should be gone, and so should the solution! If smell still exists, repeat for a couple days.

Moisture Control

Ingredients:

  • Kitty litter

Directions: To keep mildew and mold under control in warm, moist areas, place bowls of unscented kitty litter around for absorbing the moisture. Replace the bowls once a week!
