Clutter is a common problem in our modern society. We’re taught from a young age to get a good education and work hard so we can make more money and buy more things. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, either. The better consumers we are, the stronger the economy is. Plus, many of the things we buy enrich our lives and make our lives easier. Unfortunately, there’s a catch to being a good citizen and buying plenty of household goods and other items. Our homes become cluttered. Fortunately, there are ways to free yourself from clutter, without having to abandon your healthy interest in consumption. Here’s what you can try out:

• Ditch what you don’t use – That exercise machine that was supposed to help you flatten your abs sure does take up a lot of space, and it hasn’t made much of a difference for your midsection. Every couple of months, you should try to get rid of five or six things you don’t use very often and don’t plan to use often in the future. This will help you make room for the new things you buy and help you prevent the overcrowding of stuff in your home.

• Decorate lightly – Decorating your home can be a lot of fun, but it’s best not to over decorate. Over decorating can cause your home to appear cluttered and it can compromise the overall design appeal of your home. Stick to a few, tasteful decorations in each room of your home and resist the urge to cover your walls with paintings and fill every nook and cranny with ceramics.

• Find a place for your antiques, collectibles, and valuables – The antique furniture you inherited from your great aunt may be beautiful, but it also may night fit comfortably in your home without creating clutter. Consider storing excess antiques, collectibles, and valuables outside of your home. You may want to store them in your garage or in a self-storage unit, for instance. Or you may want to part with some of them. Consider the sentimental value of these items. If you’re not particularly attached to them, you may be able to sell them to an antique dealer for a pretty decent price.

• Make better purchasing decisions – There’s no need to stop buying things entirely, but you should consider slowing down a bit if you’ve become a shopaholic. Buying too many things in a short period of time will inevitably result in clutter. Curbing your purchasing habits will help you keep your house under control and organized, and it will save you some money.

The sun is up, the sky is blue, and we’re already psyched for summer! In addition to the warm weather and stress-free days of fun, summer comes with an endless array of bold new trends! One of our favorite home decors trend for the upcoming season is definitely neon. Now there are several ways that this neon trend is perfect for a home bedroom, but we’re gonna show you a quick few of our favorites. Whether you want to carry out this trend subtly, or make a statement, we’re here to make that job easier. Keep reading for unique ways to add some neon to your bedroom!

One of the most common ways to incorporate the neon trend in your bedroom would be a blank white canvas with pops of color! This is an extremely popular way to use a neon accent as an attention grabbing accessory for your clean and modern room. For a sleek and simple trend like this, check out the Nara collection. This clean and contemporary furniture will add the perfect edge to your brightly colored bedroom. As for your neon accent, choose your favorite of the bold colors– neon green, pink, and orange are always popular choices!

If you still want those blank white walls, but a more unique look, then check out the photo above! With the peak of spring in the air, and all this sunshine starting to spread, we’re sure a lot of you are in the mood for a creative change of scenery! After searching high and low for some new spring DIY projects for you guys, we came across this adorable idea of a wallpaper tree! We love these cutesy crafts that can be achieved at home, so we couldn’t turn down a tutorial to create this one. This do-it-yourself wall decor is sure to get some stop and stares from guests, and a million questions on how to do it. If you have any leftover wallpaper scraps, this is the perfect opportunity to transform a blank wall into your personal masterpiece. Now as complicated as it might look, this is actually a super easy project that anyone can pull off, so for the quicky instructions on achieving this unique look, keep reading!

1. Use the photo we provided up here, or another similar design to sketch the basic outline of a whimsical cartoon-like tree trunk on the back side of your wallpaper. This will be easier if you practice first on butcher paper, but make sure you choose the wallpaper that you want your trunk to be. Once the shape of your tree trunk is exactly what you want, cut it out and lay it flat.
2. With the same wallpaper that you used before, draw out various shaped branches to add on to your trunk (follow the model of our photo if that makes it easier). Draw out a group of three limbs for the top of the tree as well. When you’re satisfied, cut out the shapes.
3. Use ready-made wallpaper paste to apply these cut out sheets to the wall where you want them. For a detailed post on applying wallpaper click here.
4. As the tree dries, use various colored wallpaper scraps to cut out leaves. We recommend cutting out at least 60, then pasting them on as if they were sprouting from the branches. Use our photo as a guideline for where to place the leaves.

Now with these 4 easy steps, you have a one-of-a-kind wallpaper design that’ll catch the eye of anyone passing through! Add one of these to a kid’s bedroom, bathroom, or just a fun playroom! Let us know how your wallpaper tree turned out, and share pictures with us below!

Every little girl and boy loves to play with bubbles when they’re young. There’s just something so inviting about the clear domes of soapy water that can entertain for hours! You can’t touch them, you can’t eat them, so why are they so great? Just the feeling of a light-as-air bubble floating around seems magical, so why not add that same feeling to a bedroom? This time around, we’ve created a fun and playful bedroom look that takes on the same feeling as your kid’s favorite pastime– bubbles! Keep on reading to get this fun bedroom decor that can be adapted from the younger kids to teens!

To give your bubbly bedroom a base to work off of, you’ll first need to pick the colors of the wall. Bubbles are perfect for a wide variety of bedrooms because this theme will work with any color between white and bright blue! This is completely up for personalization– white will give a clean and bright look to the room white a brighter blue will give great contrast to the rest of the decor! To add a little something different to the walls, we’re gonna give you another great tip that will really bring the bubble theme to life– find circle mirrors like the ones shown above and place these around the room in a pattern that’s likely to be seen as bubbly! We not only love the playful effect this gives the room, but the mirrors also brighten things up and make the room’s floorspace itself seem larger than it is! Whether you want to use these mirrors all over the room, or just a select few, it completely changes the look!

Now that your walls have the life of a bubble, time to get started with the furniture! We think white would look gorgeous against any shade of blue, so check out the Dakota collection for a girly take on this theme! Against brighter teals like our example picture, the white furniture will pop and bring out the best of the room. If you’ve picked a lighter blue, or even white, the Dakota bed will blend right in bringing a softer look! There’s no way to go wrong with white furniture in a bedroom like this! Now to finish the bed off, you’ll want to find the perfect bubble bed set. We found two great options for you, depending on how you want your bedroom to look. The first is a bright multicolored bedding that will bring a new color into the bedroom, giving it more dimension! Now another way to go if you want a more toned down look, is a pastel bubble themed bedding that will add just the right amount of color– here’s a great one!

Now for the fun part that will give your bedroom the exact look you want– decorations! This Capiz floor lamp is the perfect addition to the room, with it’s great layered circle effect! We love the look of this lit-up floor chandelier, and it fits the theme exactly. If a floor lamp isn’t your style, check out the chandelier, or desk lamp instead to give the same look. To add another element to the room, find a bubble/dome clock. This will really tie everything together, but give it a more retro feel at the same time.
