A beautiful home is one way to express creativity, but the finishing touch is a gorgeous garden to go along with it! I’m sure you know this because we all have that pro-gardener friend who has a breathtaking array of plants just outside their home — the perfect combination of flowers, fruits, and decor. Although it’s a free expression of creativity, don’t make the mistake of blurring the fine line between an astonishing display and mess of plants– here are a few tips to help you out while you create your yard masterpiece.
The best garden decor have a personal connection to you– whether its a specific color scheme, plants, or even as bold as decorative instrument, it should mean something. It’s your garden, so customize it! Add a bench if you like to lounge outdoors. Even old sports equipment will add a vintage edge if used in the right way! Use your artistic intuition to switch things up and get original.
Functional and fabulous– just because you desire a beautiful view doesn’t mean eliminating the old fashion rows of fruits and veggies. Just implement them sparingly within your display and enjoy your fresh produce at the peak of the season; this gives the family a good excuse to get competitive and see who can pick the best strawberries!
Your garden should be beautiful inside and out! Be sure the view is just as good from the kitchen window as it is sitting on the bench. This is the perfect pick-me-up on one of those dreary-gray kind of days. Exotic plants are a great conversation starter when company is over, and give your garden a unique twist!
If you live in an area where there are four distinct seasons (we know we do!), then you’ll wanna be prepared for those months of colorless plants. Buy specific plants for year-round bloom and pot them so they can be moved around when color is needed! You’ll neighbors will be dying to know how you keep the garden so bright in gray and gloomy times!
Foliage isn’t for everyone, but in the right contrast it’ll give a unique texture and feel to the garden. A small addition used correctly can make a bigger impact on visitors than flowers would; keep in mind that although this is a great way to keep any yard more interesting, too much of anything is never a good thing– just be aware and balance it all out!
Hopefully this helps you master your gardening potential. Share a picture of your masterpiece on our Facebook page!
