Our blog has officially been up and running for almost a year now, which means it's back to summer time! It seems like we wait all year for this gorgeous sunny weather, and short break from stress! Along with the sun's arrival, we start to see the spring trends fade and the summer trends surface. We've already shown you the past year of fall, winter, and spring trends, so here's the season you've all been waiting for!

The first trend we found all over home decor blogs tied in with the latest fashion trend of "hi-low" skirts. These are basically just skirts with asymmetrical hemlines, which is also what this home decor trend is all about. Find a few decorating pieces to accent your room with the "hi-low" look or an asymmetrical shape. Check out this bookcase for an idea of what we're talking about. This gives any room an instant modern face-lift but adding a new geometric shape to the space. This is a little bit outside of the box, and great for you creative decorators, but more subtle versions can be found almost anywhere!

Now the second trend we spotted for the summertime was of course, neons! Neon colors tend to make their way back every couple summers, so this one was no surprise to us. Another great way to incorporate this trend is to keep everything simple colors with one pop of a bright color. This is the perfect way to draw attention to the focal point of your room, and balance out the color scheme! We love how neon colors can look cute and juvenile, and can also be transformed to modern and edgy. No matter what your style is, there's always the perfect neon accent to bring that out!

For a more conservative summer trend that packs just as big of an impact, try out the lace/crochet trend! These two textures are hot for summer decorating! Mix and match them together to create a variety of new layers and textures that give your room a unique dimension. Last but not least, the latest summer trend we've come across is ombre! Whether this be your bedspread, a piece of art, or even furniture, ombre is a great way to keep any dull color scheme from getting too washed out or boring. The gradual fade of a color adds a unique depth to the room, but keeps things from getting too busy with patterns. Try out this trend in any part of the house this summer!
